Favourite 5 Intimate and Romantic Bangsar Restaurants

Bangsar, smack in the middle of KL and the suburbs is a favourite place to dine out. Here we bring you our favourite Bangsar restaurants that is not only romantic but serves delicious food too!

Favourite 5

In such a buzzing city, privacy sometimes is at a premium. There are restaurants that wow you with décor and flamboyant gestures of love and there are those that allow you to get to know each other. Where the music is not too loud, service is prompt but respectful. You can hold hands and feel like the only people in the world. We find that Bangsar can give you that. The romantic ambience you crave but also the intimacy you need. And at least 3 of them are Italian! So Bon Appetito!

Best for holding hands
Opus, Jalan Bangkung

If you don't know what to do on Valentine's, pamper that special someone with dinner at Opus

Jalan Bangkung is a favourite haunt for those of us who want a little privacy and good food. A quiet road, far from the hustle of Telawi with parking ease. And though there are other restaurants here worthy of mention, we keep coming back to sweet little Opus. Sitting on the outside tables can give you a feeling that you’re eating on your own patio complete with the sounds of crickets. We like the pastas here, the peppercorn steak and stay awhile and get touchy feely over the death by chocolate. Read the full Opus review here

Opus Bistro, 67, Jalan Bangkung, Bukit Bandaraya, Tel: 03- 2092 4288

Best for eye gazing
Sage, The Gardens

After you've indulged her with some shopping, whisk her away from the crowd and bring her to Sage

On the top floor of a mall, it’s strange to note then when you enter it you truly are far from the maddening crowd. This is also a restaurant most prominent on the dining out crowd list. Tasteful décor, unobtrusive service and a delightful menu that's French in nature but Japanese in sensibility. With your honey in tow you can dine on wahyu beef carpaccio with konbu sauce or nibble foie gras on glazed duck breast or quivering on risotto. And if you're feeling indulgent, there's a Truffle menu you can enjoy together. Hushed with the tinkle of food being prepared in the background, you can indeed carve a little corner of your own to whisper sweet nothings to each other. Just make sure you make a reservation. http://www.sagekl.com

Sage Restaurant and Wine Bar, The Gardens Residences Level 6, Mid Valley City, Tel: 03- 2268 1328

"Intimacy begins with dinner"

Best for knee touching
Leonardo's, Jalan Bangkung

You can enjoy the view of KL's iconic landmarks from the bar...

From the same people who brought you Opus, this is on the list because we love the bar! It’s got high ceilings, tasty cosmopolitans and a view of the twin towers. Though the restaurant is indeed rather romantic we like sitting by the bar nibbling on pizzas and little bites. Sometimes there’s a swing band and other times you can feel like the only two people in world with your own private bar. Though the name is Italian the dishes here are more worldly. If you fancy eating at the restaurant below, read the full Leonardo's review here

Leonardo's Dining Room and Wine Loft, 61-1 & 61-2, Jalan Bangkung, Bukit Bandaraya, Tel: 03- 2096 2226

Best for playing footsie
Vineria, Bangsar Shopping Centre

Seductive red walls act as a backdrop for your romantic encounter...

There's something sexy about an Italian meal. Maybe it's the act of licking your fingers after a slice of pizza or the twirling and slurping of thick creamy pasta that makes it so alluring. If cooking is not your forte why don't just leave it to the experts? For Valentine's day, Vineria offers a sensuous menu that includes Fine De Claire oysters, burrata quenelle, veal mignon pan-fried in Masala wine and a dessert of chocolate and rum bignets. Treat your girl with this delicious spread and then cosy up with her at a quiet corner while you watch the chef prepare your meal behind a frosted glass enclave. Or choose to dine while relaxing on one of their resort styled lounge sofas out on the patio. Either way, Vineria has a warm and intimate setting that will compliment your Italian styled seduction perfectly. http://www.vineriait.com

Living up to their name, Vineria has a wonderful selection of wines...

Vineria Cucina + Bar, G133, BSC, 289, Jalan Maarof, Tel: 03- 2287 7889

Best for leaning and whispering
Garibaldi's, Bangsar Village I

The lighting fixtures adds to the warm ambience

Garibaldi's give you the whole package. Great food, nice location, impeccable service and a great ambience for romance in the evening. The menu selections are well thought out, offering just the right dishes for a great Italian romantic evening. Start with the soup of the day which is beautifully presented to impress. Move on to the Homemade Pappardelle with Wagyu Beef Cheek or their Filleto, Grilled Beef Tenderloin for meat lovers. The degustation menu is great if you worry about choosing the right dish. Perhaps you can figure your partner out by his or her favourite selections. Under Chef Giuliano Berta, the food is delectable and don't worry about the service either. Thoughtful and prompt, your table conversations can flow uninterrupted. Even if you are nervous and keep dropping your napkin, they quietly place it back on your lap. A word of warning, Garibaldi's attention to detail is reflected directly in its bill. However, if your partner happens to 'accidentally' chance upon the final tally, it will be a waste if you can't play that to your advantage.

Garibaldi Italian Restaurant and Bar, Lot. 10 & G22, Bangsar Village, Jalan Telawi 1 Tel: 03-2282 3456/57
