Yummy Dioramas

Lemon Ghoul-o’s
Make your own Ludovic and Irina!

2 Lemons (Rind and Juice)
175 ml water
2 tsp gelatine
4 tsp caster sugar
Black writing gel

Put lemon rind into a saucepan with half the water, simmer for 5 minutes then let cool.
Soften the gelatine in the remaining water in a small heatproof container. Stand the container in a pan of hot water and stir until the gelatine dissolves.
Add lemon juice and sugar. Pour into individual moulds and leave for a few hours to set.
To get jello out of the mould put a cloth in warm water and wrap it around the mould for a few seconds. If jello still doesn’t come out easily, repeat with the warm water wrap. Use writing gel to draw on eyes and mouth.

Chocolate Spider Cookies
Little does Aracidia know that she's pretty tasty too!

2 1/4 cups flour

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

2 sticks butter
 (1 cup)
3/4 cup brown sugar

3/4 cup sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 eggs

8 oz Hershey’s semi-sweet chocolate chips

8 tbsp cocoa powder

Chocolate sticks/liquorice sticks
Red mini M&M’s
Black writing gel

Preheat the oven to 190C. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder until the mix is light brown in color.
Melt butter in microwave. Transfer to a large mixing bowl with the sugars, egg, and vanilla extract - mix until just blended.
Gradually stir in the dry ingredients and work into a thick, sticky dough.
Add chocolate chips, stir gently, and leave for 5-10 minutes to let chips sink into the batter. Roll out balls of dough (between 1 tsp and 2 tbsp in size, depending on how big you want the cookies to be) and smush them flat on the baking pan.
Bake for 8-10 minutes. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. To turn these into spiders add chocolate/liquorice sticks on the sides as legs and put on red M&M’s as eyes adding a little black dot in the middle with black writing gel.

Vampire Cupcakes
Get your fangs in them!

3/4 cup butter, room temperature, plus extra for pan
1 ½ cups flour, plus extra for pan
1 ½ tsp baking powder
¾ tsp salt
¾ cup sugar
2 eggs, room temperature
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ cup whole milk
¼ cup raspberry jam
¼ cup canned cherry pie filling
Vampire teeth for decorating

Preheat oven to 175C. Butter and flour a muffin pan.
In a bowl combine flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl beat sugar and butter till light and fluffy.
Beat in eggs, one at a time. Beat in vanilla.
With the mixer on low beat in flour mixture in two parts, alternating with ½ cup milk.
Divide batter among the prepared muffin pan.
Bake until a toothpick inserted in center of a cupcake comes out clean, about 20mins. Let cool on a wire rack.
Mix the raspberry jam and cherry pie filling to form a deep red sauce.
Cut a 1 inch deep piece from the top of the cupcake and fill the hole with the red filling. Put top of the cupcake back and drizzle on more of the red sauce.
Top off with the vampire teeth.

"Hello little ones…and what are you doing here on a night like this?"
