One of the most frequently asked questions we get at FC is "where can I go for a romantic dinner?" We know plenty of dimly lit restaurants that serves delicious food. But what exactly deems a restaurant romantic? A great view, a good band, the sound of lapping water or maybe surrounded by nature? Here's some of our picks from the newer eateries in town. The rest is up to you...

We've done a sequel! Check out More KL Romantic Restaurants here.

Best Place for Cosying Up
Mezze, Medan Damansara

If you’re looking for a cosy little spot to spark up some fireworks, this might be your place. Here you are encouraged to share platters, as they are quite substantial. Order a few starters you can eat by hand such as the bruschetta or duck liver pate, so your fingers get a chance to collide.

Next, why not reenact the famous scene from Lady and The Tramp by doing the pasta tango? Lots of slurp-worthy concoctions here. And afterwards, to set everything to a cool sizzle- desserts here are delectable. We say go for the sinfully creamy pannacotta. Insist for a corner table in the back that gives you a secluded view of the restaurant through the bookcase shelves. This ensures a little privacy while still giving you a glimpse of the lovely exposed brick wall adorned with paintings. Mezze won’t be having a set Valentine’s menu, just the regular ala carte offerings and a few specials on the board. Go to Mezze for the full review.
(132 Jalan Kasah, Medan Damansara. Tel: 2095 0122)

Best for Chilling Out
The Hill, Damansara Heights

If you are able to, try to get here before sunset to catch the picturesque view as the sun goes down and the sky is painted in hues of orange, purple, and red. There are two options for dining here- an upstairs dining room where you can have a formal sit down dinner or the beer garden. If you fancy the formal route ask for balcony seating for best views.

We, however prefer garden dining under the stars where you can enjoy a drink at the barrel tables or snuggle up on a sofa and gaze out at the sparkling night lights. Enjoy a light dinner by sharing some sushi, sashimi and yakitori so you don’t fall into a food coma and stay perky for some action in the boudoir later in the night. *Wink.
(23 Lorong Dungun, Damansara Heights. Tel: 016 229 1505)

Best Choice for Nature Lovers
Subak, Bukit Lanjan

Take your love to the jungle and have a wild time. Built on the fringes of the natural virgin jungle of Bukit Lanjan, this sanctuary offers a romantic dining experience amongst the chirping of crickets and soothing sounds of flowing water all by glimmering candlelight. The menu offers local and contemporary delights with a spin on the traditional. If you fancy other places in PJ, check out Cosy and Romantic Restaurants in PJ.

Heat things up with an aphrodisiac, fresh oysters on ice. Then move on to a finger-sucking seafood platter of scallops, salmon and king prawns. Men, you’ll earn extra bonus points for shelling her prawns. As things heat up, cool off with an es teler or cendol for dessert. Nothing quite beats a jungle dining experience to bring out your primal urges.
(3213 Jalan Penchala Indah, Bukit Lanjan. Tel: 7729 9030)

"If you are into Valentine's, then do it in style..."

Best for a Swanky Dinner
Le Midi, BSC, Bangsar

Think of the Mediterranean and its azure seas, fresh cooking and a liberal does of passion. They have a special gourmet menu that aims to seduce, a swanky jazz band the perfect ambience for gazing into each other's eyes. With delights such as duck breast salad, grilled lobster tagliolini, braised wagyu beef cheeks, almond parfait and more you are sure to impress that special someone. For more Bangsar Restaurants check out our picks for 5 Intimate Bangsar Restaurants.

Grab a seat at the glass balcony if you want to enjoy a stunning KLCC view or for a psychedelic night chill out by the glowing jellyfish tank for a live lava lamp experience. The sensuous set menu is priced at RM278++ and even includes a mini bottle of champagne.
(Bangsar Shopping Centre, Jalan Maarof. Tel: 2094 1318)

Best for a Relaxed Date
Tamarind Hill, Jalan Sultan Ismail

For a relaxing escape within the city, spend a low-key evening at this oasis complete with glimmering pond and an exotic Indochinese menu. So lots of spicy tasty food for you to get those love juices going.

Indulge in the starter platter that comes with crab cakes, apple spring rolls, and prawn and chicken sticks with a sweet chilli jelly. Then pucker up with a sour mango and tiger prawn soup. Get all warm with a deep-fried cod red curry and then finish off by feeding each other the pumpkin custard with chilli chocolate ice cream and strawberry sauce. This menu will set you back RM395 per couple inclusive of a welcome cocktail.
