Host a Party Panggang Patriotik for Hari Malaysia

by Lisa K. Photography FriedChillies on Fri, August 25, 2017

The spirit of patriotism and Kemerdekaan is in the air! Our national athletes are scooping up medals in the SEA Games, Merdeka Day is less than a week away and not forgetting Malaysia day on September 16th. Have a barbecue we say!

Panggang Bersama Untuk Negara!

What are your plans for the national holidays besides watching the parade on TV? For a change, why not host a Party Panggang Patriotik at your pad and invite your close friends and family. The SEA Games theme is ‘Rising Together’. Let’s celebrate the ‘togetherness’ with good food and people you love best.

Don’t shy away from the word ‘party’. Many of us avoid hosting a party because of the cooking and especially the dreaded cleaning up part. But fret not. Hosting your very own Party Panggang Patriotik can be a breeze and enjoyable with 3 simple tips.

Have A Show-stopper Dish

You as a host need a show stopper dish. The one dish that people will talk about for gatherings to come -the lip smacking Easy Peach-glazed Braised Beef Brisket is your ticket to glory. This recipe will get you praises and pats of the back. We can guarantee it because we tried it, ate it, and we won’t shut up about it.

Host A Pot Luck

Plan your other menus and BBQ accompaniments ahead of time. The key word is DELEGATE. 9 time out of 10 your friends will ask what they need to bring anyway. You don’t have to be a superhero and cook everything on your own, some of your mates can cook for sure. Get them to bring the sides, salads and nibbles. Share this Slow Cooked BBQ Lamb recipe with a mate who has an oven at home. They can proudly bring this dish over and have everyone enjoy it too. Those who can’t cook can contribute in the form of drinks, ice, cut fruits and desserts. Pretty much anything that can be purchased, not made.

Keep 'Em Busy

Party Panggang Patriotik must have some ‘panggang’ activity in your BBQ. For the kids, the usual sausages, burgers and meatballs on a stick is great to keep them busy. But for the grown-ups, your guests can enjoy making the BBQ Spatchcock Chicken while the party is going on. Take turns grilling and basting the chicken. There is something enticing about cooking food over open flames. There is a cavemen in all of us.

As for sides, you can make Mac 'n' Cheese, Caesar Salad and a Pasta Salad to name a few. Or how about some hot Buttermilk Biscuits fresh out the oven? We have plenty on our recipe side for you to mix and match.

We hope you have a crackin’ good time hosting your party and celebrating Togetherness with friends and family. Team FriedChillies sure did! Enjoy your long weekend!
