The World Cup is drawing near and many have been eagerly waiting for this moment since it last took place four years ago. This is a time where hardcore fans forgo sleep and all talk revolves around goals and idiotic referee calls. This is the best time for you to throw a world cup party to gather all your football crazy friends together in support of their teams.
For starters, if at all possible invest in a projector and screen. You’re going to want to have a large screen for this that rivals any sports bar or mamak. Look into renting it if purchasing is not an option. It will be well worth it.
Food and drink can make or break the party. Take a stroll down your grocery aisle and pick up as many salt laden snacks as possible. Pretzels, corn and potato chips go down well with ice-cold beers. Keep a cooler by the TV with your drinks so that no one has to walk over to the kitchen for a refill.
In addition to these snacks, whip up a few simple dishes that everyone can indulge in as they scream profanities at the screen. Cook up a large pot of chili con carne and make it extra spicy. You can dole this out by the bowlful topped with grated cheese and sour cream. Have nachos readily available and whip up a few steak wraps. As the games are going on everyone will be happy to have plenty to chomp on. Make sure all the food can be eaten right in front of the TV because you don’t want your guests to have to choose between eating and enjoying the game.
"A time where hardcore fans forgo sleep"
At the end of the day if the food is good and if plenty of it is available you can’t go wrong. Your friends will leave happy and satisfied…unless their team loses. But then again that’s beyond your control!

Cheesy Nachos

1 Bag tortilla chips

Preheat your oven to 175C. Spread a thin layer of refried beans on each tortilla chip and toss into a baking dish. Don’t worry about making it look good, these are best when they’re messy. Sprinkle jalapeno slices and cilantro on top of the chips and then cover with a blanket of grated cheese. Bake for 10mins or until the cheese has melted. Serve with the salsa and sour cream.
