Great places to get Halal Roast Duck! Yum!
I am an absolute duck fan. To my delight, now there are more duck places in town that serves up good roast duck rice/ noodles that can be enjoyed by everyone. Rejoice! Here are my top picks for Halal Roast Duck (and some other duck-lovin' suggestions).
Kenny Hills Bistro
This is a solid roast duck rice in the now trendy Kenny Hills enclave. A sister restaurant to Kenny Hills Bakers (also a favourite hang out of mine), duck here is roasted lovingly and served with rice, a good chilli oil (ask for extra) and drippings.
These duck morsels burst in your mouth with good fat.
I am usually a thigh kinda girl but the breast here is glorious with good, fatty skin and moist flesh. There’s also other things on the menu including chicken rice and succulent burgers, plus you can order the scrummy pastries and sweet pies from the Bakers side for dessert.
RM22 for Duck Rice

Having learnt the finer points of roasting duck over one night from a sifu in Perak (sounds like a Jackie Chan film), owner Zul and his lovely wife Norazlina serves up a pretty mean roast duck. Each duck goes through an elaborate 13 hours of preparation and then bathed with oil like a ‘manja’ little baby. You can have it with rice or noodles. They also have some mainland Chinese food on menu including huge meaty kebabs. We especially dig the barbecued chives.

Previously opened in Taman Tun and then Cyberjaya, Roast Kitchen is now in Taman Midah, Cheras and concentrates on delivery and catering. Seeing a gap in the market for Halal Roast Duck two brothers decided to open this over 6 years ago. A lot of effort goes into the marination process, yielding duck that is moist and tender and quite lean. Have it with their spicy signature chilli oil which you can also buy by the bottle (huzzah!) And it comes right to your doorstep. #bonuspoints
RM50 whole duck, RM15 per portion
No. 19, Jalan 2/105, Taman Midah, Cheras, KL
An absolute favourite for Halal Dim Sum in KL, during weekends and holidays it’s pretty hard to get a booking. They serve up duck all year round (we especially like the Pipa Duck- so crispy!) They do the whole shebang with pancakes etc. Good times to be had for the whole family.
RM110 Whole Duck, RM60 Half Duck
Sime Darby Convention Centre, 1A Jalan Bukit Kiara 1, KL
Haslinda Sim Abdullah
A stalwart of Halal Chinese food in Bangi, they started roasting duck about two years ago and now it’s one of their popular dishes. Duck is washed properly with spices to get rid of the ‘hamis’ scent and then hung, marinated, roasted and basted with oil. A good Chinese Halal venue with an extensive menu if you are Bangi-based.
RM70 whole duck
No. 48, Jalan Medan Pusat 2C, Section 9, Bandar Baru Bangi
