Favourite 5

The weekend is here and you're looking for a great place for food that is appropriate for your little one. We decided to expand on our initial list of kid friendly joints and bring you another five that we think are great for kids. These places serve both yummy delights and have activities fit for the little one. Best of all is that there's plenty here for adults to sup and sip too.

Antipodean, Bangsar

Kids can have fun with the toys at this little spot in Antipodean

This Aussie-style cafe serves up a bevy of delicious food. Their specialty is coffee so do make it over here for breakfast and a hot steaming latte. There's a little kids play area that has books, toys, games and even a television that will keep your precious one busy as you kick back and enjoy the morning. Do try their salads or the Kiwi lamb burger for something delectable. The desserts are best enjoyed with their blends that are from Sumatra, Java, Sulawesi, and Bali. This is the perfect family weekend spot.

Jalan Telawi 2, Bangsar Baru, 03 2282 0411

The Bee, Publika

Curl up on the sofa with your lil' ones

While there may not be a designated kids play area, The Bee is a great spot for the whole family to dine. The funky decor and wide open spaces makes it easy to let your little one roam free as you keep an eye on them. The cosy couches are perfect for curling up with a book for the little one as you indulge in some of the sumptuous offerings. We especially love that they serve ice-cream from The Last Polka and even make milkshakes(alcoholic and non-alcoholic) out of them. Slurp up a boozy milkshake as your little one has a regular one. The ultimate indulgence! The burgers here are delicious too, especially the Mexican burger which is served up with jalapenos and chili con carne.

32B Level G2, Publika, Solaris Dutamas, Jalan Dutamas 1

"More places to enjoy with your kids!"

Out of Africa, PJ

Kids love the safari feel of the place

Treat your little tyke to a braai, an African style barbecue at this unique spot. Your children will love the safari feel of the place complete with a mini jungle playground where they can run around to their hearts content. The outdoor terrace is a lovely spot to chill out as you chomp down on the delicious food. Try the ostrich steak fillets, peri-peri chicken livers, or African oxtail stew for something different. Out of Africa also has a kids menu that has specialties like pasta, lamb chops, hamburgers, mini sirloin steaks, fish and chips and Boerwors sausages.

PJ Palms Sports Centre, 1, Lorong Sultan, 603 7955 3432

Las Carretas

Las Carretas - a wonderful Mexican eatery and it's a great place to bring the kids

If your little one enjoys Mexican flavours this fun outlet is just the spot. In addition to yummy treats such as enchiladas, fajitas, tacos and more, colouring kits are provided to keep the kids occupied. Another fun extra are the cartoons that are played on the televisions. A great distraction as mummy and daddy enjoy their meal. Las Carretas also offers a kids menu with fun dish names such as the El pedro, Speedy Gonzales, El Bandito, and more. Mothers might also like to note that the toilet seats are children friendly so you can be comforted by the fact that your little one will be able to use the facilities without much help.

The Apartment, Downtown

Your little darlings can occupy themselves with colouring the menu while waiting for their food

What's fun about this restaurant is that it resembles a cosy apartment. The decor is designer chic with comfy sofas and fun sections to dine in such as the shower. Kids will love the fact that the interior is like a home. The kids menu has favourites such as fish and chips, pasta, chicken fingers and mini burgers. In addition to this they can get creative with the crayons provided to colour on their menu. The food served here is wholesome and there's a variety of specialities from around the world. Some popular items are the duck and mango salad, the mussels and clams in creme fraiche, and the prawn and guacamole sandwich. You'll love spending a weekend afternoon here with the delish food and comfy setting.

I remember those days. Used to be under a big tree. I still preferred the big tree location rather than the sterile food court tho.
