Aunty Mohana’s Kitchen Ep 3

Directed by FriedChillies Hosted by Web Chef Aunty Mohana Posted on

"Mohana cooks quinoa and blends a special smoothie..." In this installment of Aunty Mohana's Kitchen titled Healthy Eating for Kids, Aunty Mohana picks three recipes from her Fruitastic! and Vegemania! books. She starts with the Pineapple, Strawberry and Banana Smoothie. A nice colourful pinkish smoothie to the curious. Instead of the typical nasi goreng, she cooks the supercrop quinoa in a nice veggie broth. Finally, a fruit kebab for desserts. Quinoa is an easy food to prepare, has a light, fluffy texture when cooked, and its mild, slightly nutty flavor makes it an alternative to white rice or couscous, delicious with her smoothies. She gives one great tip for making a great smoothie. You need to freeze the fruits prior to blending. Why? Because... when you freeze the fruits, you don't need to add ice cubes thus giving a thicker tastier smoothie. In the next episode, she will be sharing Fruitastic! and Vegemania! recipes for meat eaters. You can contact her at mohanagill(at)gmail(dot)com if you have any questions to ask her...
