For Rest Hau Kee, from Loke Yew highway to cheras roundabout, turn 9 o'clock & reach traffic light. Turn right & reach another traffic light, go straight then u will see BP petrol station on left hand side, move further up & pass 7-11. After 7-11 turn right, go straight & reach until cross junction, turn right. It's at ur left hand side corner. Just had my yee sang at there. Very nice,1 portion RM38.

And in case u still hungry, u can go opposite of Rest Hau Kee got 1 kedai kopi, wan tan mee very nice & famous, char siew very tender & juicy. Open from morning till noon. Crowded especially luch time. Prepare to wait 20 minutes. U can wait there until supper for Cheras famous yau char kwai & tong sui & chee cheung fun as well. Slurppp......hehehehe.

Kedai kopi Sang Kee located opposite of Stadium Badminton Cheras, corner lot. If not mistaken, it was same row as New Zealand cake house.

Yes, Seaview is good with that, as well as Bak Chang and Char Kuey Teow. Their Yong Tau Fu is not bad too.

Paramount Gold Dragon City is a two shoplot Chinese Restaurant, same row as Goldview Hakka Restaurant. Or the shop row behind O&S Coffeeshop. Not sure what is good, but always pack with people.

Gold Dragon City is quite a good neighbourhood restaurant.

Yes weekends are packed!. The chef (Kow Low (tall man)) was formerly an apprentice with Overseas REstaurant.

Those familiar with Overseas (old food) kinda food (i.e. Mui Chee Ngap, Mar Lat Kai, Butter Prawn etc...) you can ge it here subject to ordering in advance.

Try these stuffs - Bacon Roll, Stuff Crab, Drgon Boat Sea Cucumber, (all these gotta order in advance).

Normal day food - Try wax meat stewed pork ribs, Pork belly with Foo Kwa (bitter Gourd), Bean Paste Tilapia, Soya Sauce PRawn. The list goes on as the chef is quite adventurous.

BTW ppl, opposite SeaView Restaurant , the corner coffee shop call Simon Delight, it has one of the BEST CHAR SIEW in the whole Klang Valley!! MUST TRY.

Stall name is called Ah Khai Famous CharSiew Chicken Rice! Look for Ah Khai, Dark fellar looks a bit like Ashley Cole (footballer). Seriously the best charsiew beating the likes of Jalan Alor, etc...

Hi Biingo,

Where is Gold Dragon City? The chef (kow low) u mentioned sounds familiar to me cos we used to go this restaurant at serdang n the chef is also called (Kow low-apprentice w Overseas). Very big chances that we r talking abt the same person.

We have been looking for his restaurant during the last few years. It would be great if u can tell me where is the restaurant.

Thank you!

Correct description on the location by verycolorful.

Kow Low or Tall guy owns another restaurant in Nilai too. Could be the same person. He is at Gold Dragon most of the time. BTW, I once tried his Teochew stew duck - not bad.

Good fellar to talk to and discuss about food. SHould you go to Gold Dragon, look for him or Kenny (the captain and shareholder). Dont talk to Peggy as she can be tow fung at times.

Recommend you try the Ah Khai charsiew also

Hi, just visited Gold Dragon City for lunch. Quite crowded and food tasty. Had soya sauce prawn, herbal chicken, vege, taufu and pork ribs for 5pax, total bill RM150. Quite reasonable.

Another place for reasonable price and food is Country kitchen (near Sam Yu) in State, PJ.

Hmm, maybe I'll list my fav based on type of food smile

1. DeFoodland Seafood at Bdr Manjalara (excellent butter crabs!)

2. BumbuBali at Bandar Puteri Puchong (BBQ combo and nasi campur with beef rendang. What more can I say.)

3. Cafe Marmalade at Mont Kiara (they just opened another at Bangsar Village II, their salad is nice, any of them and their cakes)

5. La Bouchon - French fine dining at Changkat Tungshin opposite Havana, behind Hotel Istana. (Best escargot and truffle soup ever tasted!)

My current list:-

1. Pasta Zanmai ( 1 U ) - the Japanese twist to an Italian staple, makes a refreshing change! Love the Onsen eggs texture on angel hair spaghetti... and the scent of freshly grounded black sesame ( they actually give you a small mortar to grind the sesame while you wait for your meal ) .. and the cheese, freshly grated into your bowl of pasta... also the nice cozy environment... yumyum... can go on and on... how come haven't come across any blog on this wonderful place yet?!

2. Sushi Zanmai ( The Gardens ) - wonderful Japanese stuff at kaiten sushi price! To be honest I would much prefer to spend my $$ ordering the a la carte stuff here compared to Jogoya... not only better value, tastier too. Table service included.. hate to make my own cuppa at Jogoya!

3. Pick n Brew ( 1 U ) - newly opened at 1st Floor above SOHO. Home grown cafe which can make the Starbucks and Coffee Beans run for their $$. And the wide wide selection of coffee.. mmmmm... Pity they don't serve coffee in Brazillian Pot yet, would love to try it. The food there is just so-so.. Would definitely go there for coffee and lepak though! Nice and quiet location.

4. Village Park ( Damansara Uptown ) - Nasi Lemak at it's glorious best! Perfectly half boiled omega eggs and wonderfully thin and crispy kaya toasts.. Kopi that's better than any other kopi tiam chain store in town, and the prices still pre inflationary. Oh ya, must definitely try the fried chicken whole leg. Check out Foodster's recent review.

5. Ole Ole Bali ( Sunway Pyramid ) - I think it's sister co of Bumbu Bali and Waterlily Cafe ( both in Puchong ). Great Balinese feel and huge servings of tasty barbeque meats and sotong served either with pasta or Indonesian Nasi Campur. Perfectly suites my taste haha! Surprise of all surprises, the burger is actually very good.. Actually prefer it to Carl's Jr.. Definitely worth a try!

Ok, that's all folks, lest I go waxing lyrical about food n more food!

Happy makaning this weekend!

I concurrrrr with many of your choices....but my ultimate picks would be:

1. Max! for their succulent scallops and braised wagyu beef - only for special occasions lah
2. Marmalade cafe ... huge cake servings and best quiche ever ... and very family friendly
3. Jun Kee in Cheras... too bad they don't do the black pepper lamb ribs anymore
4. Prego @ Westin ... my mom has the starwood card. I like it cos of the open kitchen. I get to watch the chefs in action. Like Ramsay in Hell's Kitchen!
5. Sun Ming ... my family's fav duck rice in Cheras!

my all time fave and crave:

1. Fatty porridge at OUG, i love the fish porridge, many fish pieces in the portion of one serve at RM6

2. Fatty Wan Tan noodle at Jalan Kuchai Lama opposite the furniture shop, their char siew and wantan taste one of a kind, i suspect they add in some different ingredient to the wantan that make it taste different from others.

3. Bak Kut Teh at sungai buloh, i forgot the name of the shop but its at the roadside, they serve very yummo assam fish as well. The BKT soup is so thick that i can eat the rice alone wid the soup. The assam fish is somehow appetizing.

4. Bumpa Gump at The Curve, its all about the prawn story, and its good for sharing so that u will get to taste abit of everything cuz everything there is juz so delicate.

5. Alexis at The Garden, i only been there for their dessert, i gave a big thumb up to the Tiramisu they serve. Not many ppl add in nuts to tiramisu but they do and in fact u will find the combination taste awesome
