To Friedchillies,

tonight was great. Pannaz does the lamb quite well. The only snag being the waiter took my plate even though I had my fork and knife at the 4 and 7 o'clock position. So while I was busy yakking away, I suddenly lost my dinner raspberry

Nice to meet everyone, well not everyone... apparently where I was sitting the only one who had a decent post count was eloe... I was wondering where's foodielianne, asian malaysian, babekl and the rest.

Still, it was tastefully done, the videos were cool, and you just made me have a hankering for roti canai la. Tomorrow morning I'll be visiting the winner of that category to have a fix. Thanks for the unneeded calories FC!!!

Yes, everything was great (erm...I would say I'm kind of disappointed w the fish) but overall...GOOD!

Well done, Friedchillies!!! Can't wait for the nx annual AFA.

CHEERS!

I would like to personally thank you all for coming.

Teh Beng: Walau Damn fast u post. I haven't gone home already one posting up here. Really sorry you lost your dinner. I'll make sure Chef Annaz hears about it.

Eloe : Yah, I think their better dishes are the meats. They've only started with the fish.

i can't help but notice that TehBeng has a good point. Perhaps I get FriedChillies to organise a get together specially for the kopitiammers. Then we can know who's who...

I realised that fitting everyone in would be a problem because it would take waayyyyy more than 80 ppl. Initially we set out for only 60 only to realise that it was too little. The max Pannaz could *almost* comfortably fit 80 so we forked out a bit more money to invite extra 20 ppl.

I'd realise that many many people made FriedChillies what it is today. Long time Kopitiam members, registered members, (,recently facebookers coz we just introduced that), floggers, clients, partners and even lurkers. (These are readers who we know come to read FriedChillies but never register... we have many of these as well). So, there's no way we can be fair to all and selected those who answered our invite emails first. Next year, perhaps we can invite 600.. I dunno.. ehemm....so now FriedChillies is officially looking for sponsors for the 2nd AFA awards... interested parties please contact the FriedChillies HQ.. grin

Maybe you could organise a FriedChillies "food tasting" with a set menu and ppl pay for their own dinner smile I missed out this time as last minute had a family thing but would love to go for the next one.

Oh babekl sorry to hear you couldn't make it. If igotthis's suggestion goes through maybe we'll meet then.

Eh jom la, one of these weekends we ramai-ramai go whack that roti canai. I think the way it was tepukked really got everyone enticed!

Adly, you gotta organize a weekend breakfast at Raju's. I think this can be a nice monthly of bi-monthly thing, where we just gather a bunch of people and try out food. I think it's a good way to build the network as well as get fellow foodsters together.

Apa kata Adly?

Sounds like a plan. Maybe can do week after next. Raju's will have more business man like this. The place is already packed during weekends. Now have to put tables on the tree's lah. No more place. Maybe I can get the roti canai man to do a short 'demo' just for us? I dunno... U guys want?

Sounds exciting! But better give the boss a heads up otherwise tak cukup meja then a bit susah for us. But please guys, not this weekend as I'll be outstation, and I really wouldn't wanna miss out on this.

We can even take pictures of all the rotis and how each foodster has it differently - some with sugar, some with a little dhal, and some banjir until you don't even know there's roti in there.

Oh man SUCH a bad idea logging onto Kopitiam forums at 11am, just when the breakfast fullness has left the tummy, and lunch hunger is setting in.

Never thought I'd ever be this pumped about roti kosong, but who could resist after seeing the "tukang roti" tepuk the thing into a spherical shape? AAAAH!

Ha Marcky I just said the exact same thing about visiting FriedChillies just before lunchtime on another thread...

Incidently, has anyone tried the Raju's goreng pisang? Very limited... between 1pm to 3pm-ish only. Or maybe whenever they feel like it. Very much like Hock Lee's goreng pisang and just as expensive but it's great smile

Raju's is very busy weekend mornings, tables and parking difficult. Lull period is after lunch. Just throwing it out there, but I'd be so down with new Raju's bfast kakis.

Lunch hour sounds good also, as long as the tukang roti is the same guy who tepuks the rotis with such artful skill.

Could always go there about 2.30 for tea or something also, to avoid the crowd and to accomodate the common saturday sleep-ins.

Anyway I'm game for whatever arrangement la, let everyone indicate interest and availability and hopefully our taikor Adly can get something going.

If we are willing to brave the warmer tables actually inside the shop than outside, there should be place enough place ..and we'd be closer to the roti chanai source for additinal orders as well.

As an aside, I hope all those 24 hour mamak chains out there sit up and take notice that this is how you make proper roti chanai! In my view, Raju's, Kanna's curry house and even Devi's Corner come up with better roti chanais these days than any of those chains. What an embarassment.

I've already started my quest to try the food from all of the winners, and my first visit was to Aunty Gemok. I took along a friend who's a real fussy kuay tiao connoisseur. We ordered a plate with extra egg (cooked into the kuay tiao) came to 10 bucks for 2 plates. His first reaction was it was a bit soggy (which we reckon is due to the egg), but after it cooled down a bit and the texture solidified a bit, his official response is "FUYO pass with flying colors!".

Next stop: Raju's!

Everyone had a hankering for the roti i bet after watching that night's tepuk tepuk video. I mean seriously, have you ever seen another egg/cocoon shaped roti like that ever? All the burnt crispy flakes, perfect for scooping up spicy curry gravy.

eloe... why go team building when you can eat roti? hah hah..

i'm fine this saturday. and for eloe's sake can also do another session but perhaps not the next week. cause next week is going to be my trip down to klang for the delicious mee kari there.

Hi rebecca! yep its me. Wah you're everywhere la eating... how you maintain your figure ler... damn your metabolic rate! I've yet to try RA nasi lemak out of your list... but cikgu I only had once...

Actually if this doesn't happen, I might go make a trip towards Batu Dam to try and find lemang. I've had it once before and it was the best lemang I've ever tasted in my life.

To Friedchillies and the gang,

It's was my first time and it was great - the host, drink, crowd, door gift - i love the cup and cup cake, the live band and not forgeting the lamb.

Great event ...! solute ..!
