Popular eating spot, Rasta that now lies near the Taman Tun Pencala Link exit has started serving breakfast on weekend mornings. At the moment there's just one stall open which is Nasi Lemak Ibu that serves nasi lemak with killer daging dendeng and some pretty good lontong.

Fans of the local indie scene can win an iPod from Apple sponsored by EpiCentre during the iem + VIMA special event. Everything's all set for this event with confirmed performances by Rashdan Harith, Altimet, Rendra and Estrella. Here's something cool. Electrolux has rigged up a 20 foot container, put wheels and an engine on it, poached a young up and coming chef from Le Meridien (yes! he had to quit his job to do this) and travelled all around Malaysia cooking for anyone who wants some free food! How about that?

The people at BBC Home has been having a lot of fun lately. They've been trying out food beliefs and myths and busting some and discovering others. Ladies have known it for quite sometime well at least in women's mags there is a common line that a man's diet can affect the taste of his joy juice? Anyone want to stand up and vouch for that?

Hence the experiement: 3 couples willing to try it out. For three days these men were asked to eat blandly without asparagus, garlic or alcohol in their diets and then keep to whichever diet they were on. One went 'hot and spicy", another "fabulously fishy" and the third "fantastically fruity and fresh". Women were asked to abstain from friskiness for two days to not spoil the test.

Information should be given out on which restaurants are participating under the price reduction campaign. Federation of Malaysian Consumer Associations (Fomca) president Datuk N. Marimuthu said that the campaign will fail unless participating restaurants inform their consumers they are part of this initiative.

He also suggested that a list of these restaurants should be posted on the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry website.

Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia secretary-general Datuk Dr Ma’amor Osman thinks this will benefit both consumers and restaurants. The consumers get the price decrease and the restaurants get more publicity. He hopes that more restaurants will adopt this with a spill-over to hawkers.

The prices of nasi kandar, teh tarik and roti canai are being reduced as you read this. But here's the thing, the price reduction is on a voluntary basis.

Nasi Kandar should go down by 20 sen while roti canai and teh tarik should go down by 10 sen. All you need to do is to check the prices against the price-list in the restaurants. Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Shahrir Samad said its actually an offense for restaurants not to put up a price-list.

This government move is supported by Muslim Restaurant Operators Association (Presma) and the Malaysian Indian Restaurant Owners’ Association (Primas). Says Presma president Jamarulkhan Kadir “we will start with our 200 members in the Klang Valley, and soon, we hope this move will be adopted by all our 4,500 members nationwide".
