Here I am at about 10am in the morning drinking enough coffee to put hair on my chest. Although this is not necessarily an uncommon thing, let me clarify that I am not a coffee drinker. But Le Méridien's Bar Captain Shane's 'Ramel' Coffee, a heady concoction of double espresso shot through with ribbons of thick condensed milk, caramel and cocoa is absolutely super. And it comes to your table with the liquid layers intact. It's almost a shame to mix it all up. "I wanted to create something good but also a little Asian," explained Shane. True enough it does remind me a little of the layers of a Thai iced tea.

This Merdeka weekend why not putter over to historical Federal Hotel for some durian goodies? An array of durian pastries will be on sale at the frontage island from 10am to 5pm from 28th August to 31st August 2009.

Last Friday bright and early, the FC Team was in PJ Hilton to celebrate the birth of the e-Dining Guide. This on-line Foodzine is a collaboration with TM Info Media, the people behind Yellow Pages. The e-Dining that was launched with two more TM Info Media products which is e-Halal and e-Holiday, will contain all kinds of articles circling around eating from hawker reviews and recipes to dining deals and a listing of eateries in the Klang Valley.

I was one of those coffeeshop-laptop junkies who bemoaned the closure of Austin Chase in BSC. It was a great place to sit and listen in to conversations plus the food and service was always good. So I was pretty chuffed to find out that they were reopening under Chase Coffee Holdings (CCH) in Pavillion.

Recently Electrolux, a global leader in home and professional kitchen appliances announced an exclusive partnership with Asian Food Channel (AFC). This means that the AFC kitchen studio will be outfitted with kitchen appliances from Electrolux. The current theme for Electrolux is "We Love Food As Much As You Do", making them an apt fit for a channel dedicated to food.
