If you’re heading to the beach any time soon here are a couple of treats to make the trip enjoyable. If you’re stuck in the city then why not seek out a pool and have a pool party? Invite a couple of friends over have some drinks, whip up these simple recipes and swim the day away.
You’ll be sure to enjoy the heat if you set your brain to holiday mode. Turn a negative into a positive if you will.
Fish and Chips
This is a popular treat to have at the beach with the delicious crisp battered fish doused generously with vinegar and delicious chips on the side. The best part is you can eat it all with your hands. Since we’re looking to make your life a bit easier and limit your time in that hot kitchen we suggest buying frozen chips and baking them till crisp according to the package directions.

1 Kg White Fish fillets of choice
125g flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 egg
150ml milk
Oil for frying
Malt vinegar for the fish
Mix the flour, salt, egg, and milk to form a batter. Heat the oil till ready then dip the fish pieces one by one and fry till golden. Drain on a paper towel to get rid of excess oil. Sprinkle with some salt and pour on the malt vinegar and enjoy.
"Sweet relief from the insane heat!"
Coconut Shake
(Makes 2-3 Glasses)
Remember our recent review on the Klebang Coconut Shake in Melaka? Well we decided that this is the perfect treat for a beach party so we recreated it in out kitchen. Just whizz up all these ingredients and you’re good to go! Serve it in the coconut for added fun.

1 Coconut
Handful of Ice Cubes
6 Scoops Vanilla Ice Cream
2 Drops Vanilla Essence
Blend coconut meat and coconut water with vanilla essence and ice cubes. Add 2 scoops of ice cream per glass. If you’d prefer it to be a bit sweeter add sugar in the blending process.
Pineapple Skewers
Who doesn’t love fresh fruit when it’s hot out? We jazzed up a pineapple with a few special ingredients to make this a delectable treat that is so easy to make. The sweetness of the pineapple is given a little zing to tingle your tastebuds.

Salt (to taste)
Slice up your pineapple and skewer it. Chill it in the fridge until ready to serve. Just before serving sprinkle the mint, paprika and salt on the pineapple skewers. Enjoy this delicious cooling treat!
