Other than the See Ngan Chai (guy with spectacles) along Petaling Street, has anyone come across any good roasted duck in the Klang Valley? The good ones have crispy skin the tender meat. A friend took me to a resturant in PJ a long time ago (I can't recall if it was SEA Park or Paramount Garden) and the name of the restaurant was Sunrise or Sunshine or something like that. Any idea where it actually is? [Posted By Jon]

Thanks folks. However, could you guys provide some more directions ? The one at Batu 11 Jalan Cheras, is it a shop or a road side stall? Any landmark?

Sorry Jon, here's the detail. Coming from PGRM, go straight and pass by Shamelin Perkasa. Turn right at traffic light (before the bridge to pandan). There are a few rows of shops. Turn again at the 2nd right. The shop is on your left, in the middle of the row. Can't remember the name but it's air-con and you can see the ducks hanging at the display at the front part of the shop. Only opens for lunch till they finish the duck so be there early.

Try the duck tongue but they ran out of them most of the time. Ask to mix with squid then. I like the sauce, plenty of garlic and chilli but not that spicy.

<br>
Not to be missed too is the braised fresh mushroom. Yummy...

Actually there's one hawker in Pudu (nicer, crispier and much cheaper) but it's kind of hard to describe. Let me check with my friends first.

As for the one in PJ, it's called Sunrise and it's located in Paramount, behind the shoplots opposite the cinema (ex-cinema actually). Its run mostly by women and their bbq pork is also to die for. [Posted By konokoni]

I prefer Loong Foong in Paramount Garden than Sunrise. Sunrise ducks are a bit oily. To get to Loong Foong from Seapark Kentucky (Kentucky on your right, you at traffic light stop), just head 12 o'clock passing the houses until a cross junction. Make a left turn. There are rows of shop on your right. The coffee shop is at the end of the road, at the corner. Go early, they finish really fast.

I agreed with foodielianne. The duck at Sunrise is pretty oily. The address for Sunrise (for those of you who wants to try out: 31, Jalan 21/1, SEA Park, 46300 Petaling Jaya, tel: 03-787869689. They only open in the morning (11:30am onwards) and they are closed on Monday.

While the other one opens in the evening. I am not sure the address but I have name card from this other restaurant: Loke Thiem Restaurant, 13, Jalan 20/14, Paramount Garden, 46300 Petaling Jaya, tel: 03-7875 7440. If you can get to this place, all you need to do is turn to your left side when you are facing this restaurant. You should see that other duck place. The sign board says "Loong Foong Seafood Restaurant" but most people go there for their duck.

There is another restuarant in Sg. Buloh. It is opposite SJK(C) Sg. Buloh. The name is: Lee Xiong Ji (pinyin) ???. That place's roast duck is quite famous too. Opens at night. Quite far though considering all the traffic jams there.

Yeah, that's right. And their poon choi too! Another dish that I really like is their claypot eel. I think that's what it was. If not then, it is claypot with fish. Heavenly!

I thought I know that area...... How come that name doesn't ring a bell??? Do they open on the weekend?

p/s: nice photo. But, next time, for all of you food lovers, get a name card from the stall owner!

I was in Bandar Puteri, Puchong when I saw a hawker stall claiming to sell the famous Loong Foong roast duck. Whats more it claimed to be only the 3rd branch. Can anyone verify that the famous dispatcher of the duck species in Paramount has legitimate branches just for their roast duck?

^^ Had dinner at Loong Foong in PJ and the lay there said they had NO BRANCHES AT ALL! Diners in Puchong, please be careful! Dont accept quack imitations! If you want Loong Foong Roast duck, you still have to make the trip to PJ.

Hmm... when i spoke to the boss 2 years back, he did mention that there were 2 others. One was in OKR. Not sure if he's still affliated with them.

He also said he's only interested in focusing in LoongFoong now. I can ask him again if y'all really wanna know.

^^Please do. I want to know if the one in Puchong is worth trying but I really would hate to eat in a place that was leaching of the good name of another place.
