my all time fave and crave:

1. Fatty porridge at OUG, i love the fish porridge, many fish pieces in the portion of one serve at RM6

2. Fatty Wan Tan noodle at Jalan Kuchai Lama opposite the furniture shop, their char siew and wantan taste one of a kind, i suspect they add in some different ingredient to the wantan that make it taste different from others.

3. Bak Kut Teh at sungai buloh, i forgot the name of the shop but its at the roadside, they serve very yummo assam fish as well. The BKT soup is so thick that i can eat the rice alone wid the soup. The assam fish is somehow appetizing.

4. Bumpa Gump at The Curve, its all about the prawn story, and its good for sharing so that u will get to taste abit of everything cuz everything there is juz so delicate.

5. Alexis at The Garden, i only been there for their dessert, i gave a big thumb up to the Tiramisu they serve. Not many ppl add in nuts to tiramisu but they do and in fact u will find the combination taste awesome

I agree with Babe_kl; difficult for gluttons to narrow down to just five. And the selection keeps changing based on new places I have tried. My current top 5 would include:-
1. Pak Su Seafood in Beserah, Pahang for good fresh seafood
2. El Cerdo for the full pork experience (tail to nose)
3. Min Kee Restaurant in Broga, Negri Sembilan for braised stuffed duck
4. Raj Restaurant in Brickfields for home cooked Indian curries
5. Nyonya Makko in Malacca for good nyonya food

Sorry had to skip all the great hawker places. And couln't decide on a consistent and authentic Malay restaurant (other than some stall around Kota Bahru which come to mind). Maybe we should expand to top 500 .......

Mmmm... food... I lurveee food. I too am one of those who cannot keep the list to a mere 5!!! Aiyo.. mission impossible la! But if it is anything that I am truly craving for at this point in time would be:

1. My Grandmother's Authentic Nyonya food!! (she's a true blue nyonya who still wears the sarong and kebaya and hails from the Straits Settlements. Too bad I'm so far away in KL).

now, on to the list:

2. Lemon Garden - international buffet with an awesome dessert line!

3. Jalan Alor crispy fried oyster (o-chien). Very different from the sticky gooey type (which I happen to like as well), I find the crispy fried very aromatic and not so filling than it's sticky cousin. Perfect starter to a gastronomical affair along Jalan Alor.

4. Val's Cuisine. Haha! While I can hold myself quite alright in the kitchen, it's not a matter of being a good cook - you just know what you like best. Need I say more? Now, if only I can find the time to whip up some favourites. Yumm...

5. Westin's Qba for their steaks & ambience. Mmm... Good service, great music, excellent food and drinks. Follow thru with a little salsa after dinner to shed the pounds you've just put on. All in all, a perfect combination.

note: list is constantly changing... current Top 5 will sway according to mood...

Cheers

Hi babe_kl. I've seen your review of Max! on your blog. I've been there twice but only during lunch and had their set lunch. It was good but not really fantastic. I guess I would have to try their a'la carte menu to really gauge their capability. Thanks for the recommendation anyway. Are you still at JRC ? It's been a long time we haven't had a JRC foodie gathering ! tongue wink

Dude understand they are all related la. Just spoke to them and Rakuzen, Kura, Pasta Zanmai, Sushi Zanmai and that Jap kedai runcit, all owned by the same Jap dude.
