Thx for the info, Spice. RM548 is more or less just the cost of one room night there.. but no point to renew the membership if you don't enjoy the food there!

Let me try out the Sunway Absolute card membership 1st then, actually not collected the card n stuff yet as I just joined this week. Generally I quite enjoy the Sun n Surf buffet and Avanti Sunday Brunch.

Update, the buffet was just above average but good value. Just found out there's 50% discount at Sunway's gourmet & specialty shops, prices for cakes & breads worked out to be even cheaper than Baker's Cottage after discount! It's only RM30 for a 750gm cake and RM20 for a food tart after discount. Where else to get that?

Hi!

I'm interested to get one of the cards. Which in your opinion will be the best card to get?

I was looking at the Shang card because I like the Lemon Garden Cafe and Zipanggu. However, Starwood card offers quite a lot more benefits. Hmmm...

Anyone know where I can get detailed explanation such as:
1) What comes with each card
2) Discount tiers
3) Which has a better value for money
4) Which has more restaurants

Thanks!

I guess Sheraton one is quite good because you get 2 cards and you can eat at all their restaurants. However, le meridian western ain't that great anyway. Their cake is superb la... but that's about it.

Having said that, the japanese at sheraton subang is good. So might be worth it to have that 50% discount man.

Oh, so you don't get 2 cards for Shang? The Sheraton one is very tempting... but how are their restaurants? Any good?

Hi Val, am interested in the sheraton/starwood program too. Just wonder if you would like to share membership since it comes with 2 cards. You can email me at chrisqsc1@yahoo.com.my. Thanks.

Finally, I got a subcard for Starwood Privilege! Can someone let me know if the chinese restaurant (dinner) and Italian restaurant (set lunch) at Imperial Hotel any good and price range? I have the vouchers for these 2 places grin

BTW, the card price is now RM599 with only 1 cake and less complimentary meals. Instead they gave cash discount vouchers for dining. So sad but I guess they still provide the best deals in spite of the lesser rewards.

I have tried EEST (dimsum) and Living room (set dinner) - did not like it. Hope the other restaurants don't disappoint.

Hi Spice. Price is RM499. DIscount varries from hotel and restaurant. Some got 50%, some got 20%. Slimming not sure... I left the detail in my sister house in Kl... I'm in johor now... I think if one would travel or go holiday this year, it is good to join this program. You get special hotel price and discount at the hotel restaurant. But got to book early.. ( I think if the hotel is in their list, means the restaurant will give discount).

Hi All, It was only recently that I'd tried a few restaurants under the Starwood Card and I must comment that its really good! I find the buffet in Latest Recipe (Le Meridien) comparable to Shang, where else EEST was out of this world. I recently celebrated my bday there while claiming a night stay .. and it totally blow my mind.

BTW, the package for Starwood is EVEN MORE FABULOUS NOW! It comes with a few pieces of RM75 voucher and RM50 voucher, and if your meal exceed the amount, you can still use your card for discounts. I will definately renew again!

We've also got the Starwood Card and we've tried:

Al Nafourah - fantastic arabic food
Prime - fantastic steaks
Latest Recipe - average buffet, great Indian selection tho but IMO not up to par with Lemon Garden
Essence - slightly above average buffet as there were more selections. Although the day I went the prawns tasted muddy which was disappointing.

All in all, since they were all 50% off, it was really worth it especially the first two restaurants!

Hi guys, I am new here. I have the Starwood Preferred Guest card(purple in colour). Anyway, I got it for free. I don't understand how people have to pay to get it? I got it after my first stay in any of the Starwood hotels. However, I havent used it for dining purposes. Am I entitled to the discounts for F&B;?

Hi... The post here is talking about the Starwood Privilege Card and its silver in colour. Basically its like a card that gives you various F&B;and hotel stay discounts and vouchers.

This is different from the Starwood Preferred Guest Card which I think basically works like a frequent flyer card and allows you to accumulate points for staying at Starwood group hotels.
Don't think there are F&B;discounts/benefits that come with it.

Hope this helps.

There are two different cards: SPGC and SPC

SPGC - Starwood Preferred Guest Card
- Loyalty card
- Comes free with min 1 night's stay
- Decent discounts and room upgrades depending on frequency
- Earn points and redeem fantastic discounts
- Great customer service
- When you book via SPGC, they will automatically remember the type of room that you usually request
- Applicable at ALL Starwood Hotels world wide. Discount rate varies from country to country
- Certain complimentary services (such as business lounge/executive lounge/etc) available. Be sure to ask.
- Some Starwood hotels attach some dining privileges, but can not be compared to the SPC.

SPC - Starwood Privilege Card
- Membership card
- Have to pay RM XXX to join. (Don't know the latest rate, seemed to have increased)
- Fantastic dining benefits
- Several room vouchers (complimentary/disount/upgrade/etc)
- Targeted for locals who would like to enjoy fine dining
- Room discounts available for rooms within Starwood Malaysia. Possible to get some discount in Singapore/Thailand if you have fantastic negotiation/PR skills. =)
- Value for money ONLY if you use the card regularly.

While the list of privileges isn't complete, but I guess you can see the difference for yourself here. smile

Hotel discount card scheme is looking so attractive always. But there is a inner tactic that would not be revealed to the customers. Anyhow due to healthy competition, some hotels offer great discount deals. A customer perfectly determines which one is relevant to him.

Las Vegas suites, extended stays, luxury hotelsavings, MGM casino, families, discounts
