I read from someone's blog that Krispy Kreme is coming to Malaysia? Got such rumors out there already?? Any of you know where my favorite doughnut outlet is going to be at?

I hope not in Berjaya Times Square, I would hate to go all the way there just for the donuts.

hehe this topic's header definitely caught my attention BIG TIME.. I thought it was confirmed. But till rumours turn into reality, should we just bear with the Big Apple's doughnuts from The Curve? Well, they are quite tasty and their on-going promotion is definitely quite a good deal. But just don't pick the green tea one just because it looks pretty as it is way too sweet!

Big apple have similar taste with JCo donuts from jakarta.
one of their employee said that one of owner is from JCo.

You know, I could have sworn Sime Darby got the franchising rights for Krispy Kreme about five years ago. I vaguely recall being very excited about it.

But nothing came out of it. If they did get the rights and didn't make use of it...bleh.

Berjaya having the rights doesn't inspire much confidence in me somehow (in that they'll run it well). I keep thinking of Kenny Rogers when someone mentions Berjaya to me. (Okay I grant that they seem to run Starbucks fairly well. McDonald's (when he owned part of it) doesn't count since it was a direct stake by the boss, and even then he wasn't running it).

Anyway, here's to keeping fingers crossed...Krispy Kreme, Krispy Kreme...

Incidentally, I've got the gift of foresight (heh), so I can tell you which malls will definitely have outlets/stands assuming Berjaya does own the rights.

My visions tell me....tell me....it'll be Berjaya Times Square, KL Plaza, Kota Raya and Kuantan Megamall.

The fact that Berjaya owns all those malls is just a coincidence and has nothing to do with my foresight abilities.

Krispy Kreme in Msia?? Must open in Midvalley/1U lah..if not how to earn big bucks? But then...since it's so nice and yummy...wouldn't it induce M'sians to be even more obese and diabetic? Hah! Then someone would start asking them to redue sugar/calories/etc and make it unlike the original Krispy Kreme.

Oh well...we'll just have to wait...in the mean time, we'll just have to settle with flown in Krispy Kremes.

I've just gotten 2 dozens of Krispy Kreme from jakarta ;p

imo, it's sort of too sweet (n i got a sweet tooth). but their glazed donuts is top notch. 2 thumbs up the donut itself is quite thick and fulfilling. one thing for sure, they are not tight on the filling. each 'filled donut' is richly filled. overflowing.
this is amazing. as big apple and dunkin donut are usually poorly filled. but krispy kreme's filling are definitely extra generous ;p

but, i would prefer big apple any day. enough sweetness that dont make u jela and u can eat more and more and more and more and more ;p

The franchise holder is a Singapore firm. Can't remember the name offhand since it didn't ring a bell when someone told me. Not a famous firm (at least to me).

To all Krispy Kreme lovers, I spoke to Berjaya today and they have confirmed that they will be opening a Krispy Kreme store in Malaysia soon. They are pretty tight lipped about it as the press release is scheduled only next week on this issue. However, they are currently still looking for a location and are targeting to open one by the December holidays if all goes well. Will try to get the press release once its out.

They are opening in 1-Utama new wing. Heard that Berjaya has a open an insane number of outlets throughout the country. Wish them the best.

Looks like you cannot keep something like this tight lipped for long. 1U new wing sounds like a good choice as they get heavy traffic there. Keep the news coming folks! I'l share what I have when I get them...

Being in the F&B line, we are all kept in the loop about these things. Another new one to arrive very soon is Popeyes Chicken brought in by George Ting.

nice foodster 1U still cant open.. as they do some changing and renovation berjaya still under discuss bout the lot overthere.. kevin.. berjaya trying to open as much as they can .. but now they focus for opening store 1st.. by the way the latest news is .. krispy kreme will open in this january if everything goes well.. wish them luck ok

i finally tried popeye's 2 wks back.

the fried chicken is like the crispy type (KFC spicy style). only the skin has flavour but not the meat. i still prefer KFC :p the biscuit that came with it is fluffy and buttery, almost scone like. way better than KFC miserable bun. fries were good too with the dip.

i liked the fish though, the flesh is firm and fresh. i wonder why they dun give tartare sauce. i had to ask for it!

Well, I always thought the name was corny kinda like Long Johns which to me was a major disappointment. But if you guy's have tried it out, I might test the water too. I'll be courageous and try the fish!

Ya, it's in the news. They may be smelly but at least they get to have one whole year supply of free donuts. Can't wait to make a trip to Times Square this weekend...

Babe_kl : Probably give her principal krispy kreme donuts! She got a year supply. Her friends got 6 months and 3 months each I think. They can probably set up store and do some 're-selling'

May be we can have her as our friends and ask her to share her booties!

Asking a girl to share her booty will result in a slap and a death-stare. Unadvisable. True story.

If I was her teacher I'll recommend praises to the girl. It shows she has perseverance and spirit to win! And if her love was for donuts, so what? More donuts for the staff room please!!
