Depends on what your mum in law may like. Angus Steak. A surprisingly good place is Angus Steak Chargrilled Steak House. Even (and maybe especially) if you mother in law is not that much of a steak eater, its a great place because they have set meals where the actual steak portion is quite small but you get all kinds of interesting small courses that go with it. The ambiance is nice too. Our boolicious did a review recently but she had really serious meat eaters with her so dont be frightened by the orders they made, there are much more reasonably priced steaks there.

Its not related to the English chain which is crap anyway. Its the japanese steak house with branches in Singapore which is why you get a twist on the dishes. Still, if youre happy with the bread shop, I guess thats fine. Wouldnt go there myself on account of its owner but thats just me.

eat only la.. where got politics
Anyway, ended up not eating anywhere cause went to Red Box instead and ate the buffet there. I must say, for the price we paid, its amazing. Just don't eat the desserts.
Have to go back there and try the angus steak one time la.

Here's what i've tried at Pavillion: As tehBeng says, Red box buffet is not bad, there's fresh oysters to to soften your throat to sing better. Carat Club was so-so, feel there's better nosh out there for the price they charge (high cost of diamonds and rent, i suppose). Kampachi is great, as good a quality as it's hotel counterpart but at a cheaper price. Tony Roma's..... well i'm biased cos there don't have baby back ribs so i'm not too keen on going back there... better steaks elsewhere although service is good.

Most of them I'll just end up in the foodcourt.
Love the crowd.

Crystal Jade 3 Meal and Crystal Jade are just so-so only. Toast Box and John King offer a nice snacks and light meal. Silk Road have pretty decent xiao long bao. Nice sandwich at SanTerri Cottage. Taiwanese Sushi Roll at Dai Guan Shan is not bad. Kampachi, of course very good Japanese Food, better a lot than Yo! Sushi and IchiBan.

John King got good durian tarts. Very pungently durian taste.
I heard that there is a good duck noodle in the food republic but haven't tried that yet. I can't remember that place though.
Kampachi is ok so so only. I liked that one in KL better. Perhaps its due to their 'newness'. Will retry again in a couple of months.

Tried Angus house (the Japanese steak house) yesterday. The steaks are quite good and being Japanese, seems to have a 'more' Japanese clientele. that was during lunch anyway.

John King's durian tart not bad ... but a bit too runny.
Dont try the famous hokkien prawn noodle from Singapore ... all their food sucks.

Hi! Val. Dainty Hill is from Taiwan, very famous but pricy. I like its Taiwan Sushi Roll. Tasty!

Hi Pink Painter!
Is Dainty Hill worth trying? I don't mind a bit pricy but good food (once in a while)... but if I'm going to be paying through my nose it had better be good! Hehehe...
Thanks...

I tried its Taiwan Sushi Roll twice. 1st time was good, but 2nd round was detected fishy and not fresh of the unagi inside the roll. Furthermore, the portion was minimized. So, it depends on u to try.

I always work my brain over time when i think of a place to eat at the Pavilion. The only place i always go back to is The Carat Club. I think the portions and the prices are just right for that type of food. It's also got some really yummy bread rolls. Also, there's apparently a buy 1 get 1 free meal on Mondays.
As for Dainty Hill, it's fusion food and I thought it was pretty terrible. I'm not a fan of fusion food so maybe i am biased but nevertheless, I didn't think the food was much to rave about. Plus the portions are small.

I find that Dainty Hill is really terrible too.
Fusion food... ewww..
Sometimes I go for the pie... but the service is slow. Can play cards while waiting for the food.

The food in the vietnameses restaurant on the 6th floor (the name escapes me) is good and interesting but the service is a bit lacking.

Food quality has gone down overall at Pavillion. My pick of the best :-
1. Dragon-I - GooJ Shanghainese food
2. La Lot (the Vietnamese place on 6th floor)
3. Herbal soup place at the food court
4. John King egg tarts
5. Cheese cakes from the Loaf

Any views on the a la carte dining upstairs? Have yet to try it out..

MoF is opened in Pavillion! serving japanese ice cream and desserts.
Right beside the fasta pasta, I think, in front of the Mercato.
It was raining just now so we were shivering while eating the ice cream.
