It is a great surprise for us. But I am very happy that we won. Something from Malaysia for the New Yorkers. I didn't manage to attend the screening in New York but the organisers told us that we would have loved the crowd when the film was shown. Thanks for the wish dim dim. We'll try to win more awards for Malaysia next year!

Here is our press release :
------------------------------

FRIEDCHILLIES WINS AT THE NEW YORK CITY FOOD FILM FESTIVAL

New York, 20 June 2008 - FriedChillies Media won the Best Super Short Film at the NYC Food Film Festival on Friday night. The super short film titled 'The Sloppiest Burger in Malaysia' garnered top prize in the super short film category. Organisers of the festival dubbed it, 'Malaysia gonzo food reportage to the max. Watch out Bourdain'. "We can't believe we won and that people half the world away watched and loved our little film," said Mohd Adly Rizal, founder of FriedChillies Media and director of Sloppy. Audiences can watch the award-winning film on www.friedchillies.com.

The NYC Food Film Festival which is in its second year celebrates the best in food film-making. It was held at the Water Taxi Beach in Queens from the 14th to the 20th of June. FriedChillies Media sent 3 films of which the Sloppiest Burger in Malaysia was chosen for screening. On the second night of screening over 750 New Yorkers watched one of Malaysia's beloved street burgers take shape on-screen.

"We filmed the footage gonzo-style because that's what our street food is all about," added Adly. "Even though it was one of our first shorts for Friedchillies.tv, I believe we won because the content has world-wide appeal." Another of the films titled 'Ipoh Invasion' was also considered for screening. However because of the limited run of the festival this year it might be slotted for next year's festival.

FriedChillies Media through its site www.friedchillies.com has been promoting Malaysian cuisine be it street-fare or fine-dining to the world since 1997. They use a cross media platform to capture the hearts and tummies of food fans all over the world. In March 2007, FriedChillies launched Malaysia and Asia's first Internet Food Channel (www.friedchillies.tv) to further promote Malaysian cuisine to the world.

The NYC Food Film Festival is a multi-sensory experience where filmgoers are able to watch food films then sample the food portrayed in those films. For more information go to www.nycfoodfilmfestival.com.

Thank you for your wishes Jeane. The site for our video sloppy has moved here. We are very grateful that sloppy has also been screened at the Milan Film Festival last September and is due for another two screenings in US early next year. Ramli will get more famous after this. FYI, there is even a Ramli Burger US version served in New York. Honey blogged about it a while ago. It was created by a chef called Zak who used to work in Malaysia for two years, went back to US and opened a restaurant called Fatty Crab. This New York club 'pinjamed' him to create a line of Malaysian bar snacks for them.

hi guys... i'm a newbie here... my first post even... smile

saw the sloppy om video and i was shocked.. and proud... at the same time..

i've been living in ampang jaya since i was a baby (i'm 30 now) and i know the om burger stall all too well... i remembered the stall when it was first set up... i was still in primary then... i'd sneak out of my parents house at 2 in the morning, walk 1/2 km and enjoy om's burger with a big gulp/slurpee from 7-E

congrats to friedchillies for a wonderful video...

nowadays i still go for my occasional sloppy om when hunger strikes late at nite... though usually coming back from work, since om is not open yet i'd go to 'saudagar burger'... it's just a bit further from om... just after the 7-eleven and SPCA on ur left take a right on the next junction... drive a bit further in and u'll see a row of shophouses on ur left... saudagar burger is there... opens earlier at about 5 so i usually go there after work... also next to it there's a small cafe called Changkirr... it has all sorts of coffees there... my most favorite is the Ipoh White Coffee Milk Shake... goes really really well with the burger ayam special + cheese from saudagar burger... between those 2 kedai there's a Nasi Lemak + Tauhu Bakar + sup tulang stall... also good if u wanna have something heavier like nasi lemak and sup...

maybe later i'll post some pics smile)
