After the success of Jogoya and Saisaki, Yaki-yaki is another me too Japanese Buffet restaurant. Basically, this restaurant replaced teppanyaki with barbecue. Unlike open kitchen concept at Jogoya and Tenji, the buffet line at Yaki-yaki is a old school thought against the wall layout, which appear less interactive and friendly.

Due to the depressed number of patrons during our last visit, quantity of shashimi on the buffet is miserable. Dessert is limited to ice cream, fruits and pudding only.

For the price $65++ and $75++ for lunch and dinner respectively is over price and not worth the visit However, they said there will be 50% discount promotion from 16th March and improve menu .

Not sure how are they going to better the menu at a lower price? May be is their last ditch to attract customers.

Copy cat is a culture in the local restaurant business. When hawker stall western food was doing well, there was western food on every other street. When Hong Kong café was popular, there was Hong Kong café on every other street. When Ipoh White Coffee shop was in demand, there was what not white coffee on every row of shops.

Copying idea and concept is a short cut to success is not an issue. The issue is most copy cat don’t maintain or improve the quality of food serve but deteriorate. At the end, it give a bad name to the concept and most copy cat ended belly up.
