Our beautiful office is finally ready and we wanted to invite some friends and food bloggers over to check it out. So the date was set and the response was overwhelming. Over 30 fans and friends showed up to partake in delicious eats and a laugh or two.

All the food and drinks were prepared by us in some way, shape, or form. Aida, our Chef in Residence, baked yummilicious treats such as a decadent chocolate cake and the much-loved butterscotch pecan cake along with a ton of pretty cupcakes. Come this Saturday, BBQ celebrity chef Robert Rainford gets a "License To Grill" in Kuala Lumpur. Brought in by the Asian Food Channel with sponsors from amongst others BBQ King and the Berjaya University College of Hospitality, Rainford will be sharing some of his BBQ secrets in a soldout lunch workshop followed by a BBQ dinner with him at Bangsar Village. Fans who were lucky enough to secure tickets to the dinner will be tantalised by Rainford's BBQ creation of Brick Chicken, Rubbed and Grilled Beef Tenderloin and Onion Water Lamb Chop.

Finally after all those long weeks of planning and juggling 15 balls in the air, the circus known as The Annual Foodsters' Awards came to town. Well it came to Pannaz in a cosy little corner of Damansara Perdana but in our world of FriedChillies it's a big deal indeed, worthy of a Big Top, fanfare and dancing elephants on tightropes. It's our first awards of many to come to mainly celebrate the very best of Malaysian street food and mom and pop eateries. Before we get down to the nitty gritty of the night, we like to give a shout out to our generous sponsors, Maggi for all the lovely hampers and goodie bag stuff and HTC for their sleek sexy phones we used to GPS the winners. Earlier this month, Canon Marketing (Malaysia) launched its second Canon PhotoMarathon at the Berjaya Times Square. Buzz about this event has been happening weeks prior to the event and word on the street was that one of the theme of the competition was about food. So, we despatched our news team to go for a bit of 'recce'... Over one thousand hopeful participants entered the photomarathon.

Continue reading »The 12th HOMEDEC Exhibition brought in the weekend crowd to KLCC last weekend where more than 300 exhibitors were able to showcase their products and services related to home appliances, renovations and decorations. One of the more popular booths were the kitchen cabinet companies who were extremely busy attending to customers asking advice on designs and requesting quotes.

Avanti at Sunway Lagoon is participating in the annual Gourmania held from the 1st to 30th November. Start your meal with the crispy soft shell crab with pear endive. It's done fried like tempura with the salad that tastes a little like Waldorf. Magtagliati pasta, are thick ribbons slightly cooked with braised venison. Before the main meal, cleanse your palates with an espresso sorbet and coconut candy.
Our pick for the mains is the pan-fried veal served like a Swiss roll hugging cream cheese with sundried tomatoes. This is tender and rich. For dessert, there is bitter-sweet chocolate mousse cake and praline ice cream. The Gourmania menu is priced at RM88++ without wine and RM138++ with wine. There's also a second menu for about RM108++ without wine and RM188++ with wine. This menu boasts scallops or baby lobster starters and a tenderloin or dover sole main. Continue reading »
