We spent two glorious days in Yarra Valley. The sun could not be sunnier nor the sky any bluer. The views of undulating grape vines and farm patches with grazing bucolic cows are postcard perfect.


Drives here are languorous and there is much to indulge on. From artisan products to beautifully crafted meals sourced from fresh local produce (and of course more wine you can hope to drink), Yarra Valley is a little piece of sun-drenched paradise. Day 2: Swap Sense, Coffee Culture, Med Madness

Eating and drinking is a social pursuit. The second day was even sunnier than the day before (hard to imagine that a week before Melbourne experienced a freak hail-storm). We met a whole bunch of avid gardeners all doing their bit to ensure food security then dipped our toes into Melbourne’s fabulous coffee culture. Then at night sampled some of the best food from the Mediterranean from trendy Italian to family run Greek ending with a huge gelato cone.

Day 1: Long Lunch, Cool Chef, Tall Tower

Since Friday we've been the guests of Victoria who have taken us on a whirlwind eating tour of Melbourne. The 2010 Melbourne Food and Wine Festival is '12 Glorious Days' of food and drinking debauchery of the finest kind. So for starters we're going to do short recaps of what's been going on daily while we are still here and I can still reach the keyboard with my ever-pudgier fingers.
