This weekend, CNNgo released their World's 50 most delicious foods, and ahead of Singapore's chili crabs and chicken rice, the Penang Assam Laksa was placed at No.7. This comes as a welcomed surprise as assam laksa has never been in any favourites list of the world, except in the hearts of many Malaysians.

Just a few weeks ago Unilever Food Solutions launched it’s first ever World Menu Report, a definitive snapshot of out of home eating, polling consumers across the globe to compare and contrast changing tastes and market behaviors in today’s food industry. This research study was conducted by interviewing a sample of people from seven countries, both developed and developing, across the globe: USA, UK, China, Germany, Russia, Brazil and Turkey.

After 3 months of campaign, countless designs, write-ups videos and not to mention running around, planning, crawls and a few melt-downs, our LOVE your Street Food campaign came to an excellent close. And what better way to do it than with a food party!

Jarrod and Rawlins officially announced its charity campaign ‘Dine for Charity’ at its Damansara Heights outlet with the campaigns’ beneficiary and charity partner, the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM). The officiating event saw the check handover of a total collection to date, of RM23,300.



Dine for Charity is an effort by J&R to create a platform for diners to contribute funds in the fight against cancer. Its inaugurating event on the 26th of May, saw patrons purchasing a minimum pledge ticket of RM180 which entitled them to a buffet dinner. The sweet and lovely Laura Calder from AFC’s ‘French Food at Home’ made her debut in Malaysia in May by appearing in a series of dinners and demonstrations. I was lucky enough to attend the press gathering where she cooked up a few of her favourite dishes; the asparagus with orange sauce, steak au poivre with potato gratin, and an apple cream tart.



Having lived in France for over a decade and as a student at The Dubrulle Culinary Institute in Vancouver and at L’Ecole de Cuisine LaVarenne in Burgandy, Laura has embodied a passion for pleasure when it comes to food.
