Since Friday we've been the guests of Victoria who have taken us on a whirlwind eating tour of Melbourne. The 2010 Melbourne Food and Wine Festival is '12 Glorious Days' of food and drinking debauchery of the finest kind. So for starters we're going to do short recaps of what's been going on daily while we are still here and I can still reach the keyboard with my ever-pudgier fingers. Here are 3 bites on each of the stuff we did. Longer morsels to follow soon.
Longest Lunch

-Over 1,000 people showed up this year in various hats and parasols. The day was hot and breezy, near perfect for an outdoor lunch with 999 strangers.
- The theme was oriental and we were entertained throughout the lunch by dragon dances, martial artists, parasol dancers and a wandering dude with a flute.
- The severs rocked! Fleet footed and cheery. Pretty much everyone got served at the same time and they made sure our glasses were never empty.
Interview with Nic Poelaert: The Age Good Food Guide Young Chef of the Year 2010

- Chef Nic knew he wanted to be a chef since he was 14 years old.
- We love his philosophy- uses fresh local ingredients and rustic, childhood recipes, cooking food that is simple and pure and makes sure his staff is happy and fulfilled. "Happy staff means happy customers," he says.
- Many of the flowers used in his salads come from his own garden.
Eureka Skydeck

- The Eureka Skydeck is 984.3ft/ 300m in height
- It's got some seriously gorgeous views of Melbourne and depending on what you see, you'll hear sounds that links to the area you are looking at.
- Want to know how Charlie felt in the Glass Elevator? We popped into 'The Edge'- a glass cube that travels 3meters to the side of the building. You can see the traffic below your feet.
Dinner: Bistro Guillaumme

- Situated in trendy Southbank by the river.
- Oooh... the little oysters here are sweet and succulent
- On the hour, we were treated to fire displays from all the Crown Properties. Sure beats dancing fountains.
