Hiestand Bakery

There isn’t a person alive who can say they don’t enjoy the delicious aroma of freshly baked bread. It is the kind of smell that invites guests to sit down and stay a while. I even read somewhere once that you can put a loaf of store bought bread in the oven for a few minutes just to make your home smell like you’ve baked all day.

This little bakery is just the kind of place that is packed with delicious goodies and the smell of baked bread will beg for you to sit down and have a slice of something. Hiestand is a Swiss Gourmet bakery that specializes in European goodies that are made with high quality natural raw ingredients.

If it’s bread you are in search of there are all sorts of wonderful concoctions; grains bread, sourdough breads, crusty breads, rustic breads, and my personal favourite the sundried tomato bread. I can finish a loaf in one sitting just by eating it on its own or dipping it in extra virgin olive oil and a dash of balsamic. Heavenly! It’s got a savoury bite, which is why you don’t even need to slather anything on it for it to be good.

In addition to the gorgeous loaves of crusty breads there are also other baked treats that are worth trying. They make fresh bagels that are chewy and delightful, perfect when toasted and served with a bit of cream cheese. I especially like the poppy seed and sesame bagels for that little bit of nutty crunch on top. If you enjoy croissants try the one with a bit of sprinkled cheese on top. It’s both buttery and cheesy, a delectable combination.

"The aroma of fresh bread is lovely!"

If you have a sweet tooth there are a variety of choices to pick from…doughnuts, cupcakes, muffins, Danishes, scones and more. The list really does go on, and these are all made fresh. If you have kids you might not want to bring them here because I guarantee that you will leave with a bag full of sugary treats.

There are also menu options if you’d prefer to dine in for a light meal. Breakfast is served here all day. The big breakfast option consists of 2 eggs any style, a hash brown, roasted tomato, sausage, ham, 2 slices of toast, a slice of marble cake, orange juice and a coffee all for RM18. Great value for money! There are also sandwiches that are perfect for lunch. I tried the tuna sandwich and it came as two sandwiches chock full of tuna for RM8. I actually saved the other half to take home for later.

I highly recommend this spot for those who are bread fans because I find their bread to be of superior quality. Oh and the delicious smell as you walk in isn’t so bad either…Mmm…

Lanatir - Thanks for that! I have only been to their Bangsar branch. Will include it in the listing. And I can see why the supply to many restaurants...their bread is amazing!
