Raju Restoran

This restaurant has nice breezes and shady trees. Oh and the rotis here are good too.

Many people have mixed feelings about Raju’s. Some say it’s gone down or that the curry is diluted. Others can’t get enough to the place and still hold it nostalgically on their tastebuds. Fact remains is that they are doing something right. There’s hardly a day when their tree-sheltered tables aren’t full.

On Sundays, you have to come before 10am. If not you can't get seats. It’s that famous. Rumour has it that Mr. Raju won a lottery or something and instead of spending it all, he wisely invested some of the money in setting up a restaurant. He has passed away. His children are now running the shop.

"The bananaleaf rice here is famous"

They serve the traditional banana leaf rice, roti canai, roti telur and all that jazz. For snacks, I recommend the rava tosai, roti canai & roti telur. Their roti is soft, crispy and not oily. If you eat roti, try their plain 'ikan curry' and ayam goreng. If you come on Sundays, try their red bawang chutney with the roti. If you try the banana leaf, make sure you get their fish cutlets and fried stuff. It's good…
