The Colonial décor and ambience at Tappers makes it the ideal spot to relax. The rattan furniture and white shutter windows transports you to a different time and makes this a cosy breakfast joint. The breakfast menu here is not only very reasonably priced with everything under RM10, but there are up to 12 sets to choose from. The usual favourites such as the English and American breakfast sets are available along with other pairings such as French toast and sausages… pancakes with blueberries... cereals and more.
I wanted to get a good idea of the food in general and so between the both of us I picked the English Breakfast, American pancakes, and the French toast with sausages. When it all arrived I was thrilled at the sheer value for money. I have been to many places for breakfast where for an exorbitant amount you’ll get an anorexic sausage, sludgy scrambled eggs, and other bites not even worth mentioning… but here my English breakfast showed up with two beautiful eggs with a golden liquid yolk, a good sized grilled sausage, sauteed mushrooms, a slice of bacon, baked beans, grilled tomato, and 2 slices of toast. On top of that you are able to get refillable teh tarik or coffee. Refillable! Can you believe this was only RM8.80?
"Beautiful eggs with runny golden yolks..."
The American pancakes were a delight. Though they were small in size they were thick and fluffy like mini cakes drizzled with maple syrup. It is hard to find fluffy pancakes that do not taste eggy and dense and I was happy with the consistency. These were RM7.50. Definitely worth it!
The French toast set with two sausages was another dish we were happy with. The toast was fried till golden without being too soggy or too dry drizzled with a generous amount of syrup. The sausages are flavorful with a crisp grilled exterior. This set is RM8.50.
I thoroughly enjoyed the food and the refillable teh tarik and coffee can have you sipping the morning away with a book in hand. If you’ve got RM10 in your pocket do head over and try one of these sets. You will leave with some change in your pocket and a definite smile on your face!
