Chocolate Spider Cookies

Edible spiders perfect for a Halloween party!


"Mmm… tasty spiders…"




Ingredients

2 1/4 cups flour

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

2 sticks butter
 (1 cup)
3/4 cup brown sugar

3/4 cup sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 eggs

8 oz Hershey’s semi-sweet chocolate chips

8 Tbs cocoa powder

Chocolate sticks/liquorice sticks
Red mini M&M’s
Black writing gel

These cookies are delicious and very chocolatey

You’ll need to make more than one batch because they will finish very fast and people will be asking for more



Method

Preheat the oven to 190C. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder until the mix is light brown in color.

Melt butter in microwave. Transfer to a large mixing bowl with the sugars, egg, and vanilla extract - mix until just blended.

Gradually stir in the dry ingredients and work into a thick, sticky dough.

Add chocolate chips, stir gently, and leave for 5-10 minutes to let chips sink into the batter. Roll out balls of dough (between 1 tsp and 2 Tbs in size, depending on how big you want the cookies to be) and smush them flat on the baking pan.

Bake for 8-10 minutes. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

To turn these into spiders add chocolate/liquorice sticks on the sides as legs and put on red M&M’s as eyes adding a little black dot in the middle with black writing gel.
