Pasta goes really well in local style dishes. We tried out this sweet and faintly spicy pasta goreng kicap and came away impressed. It’s tasty, quite filling and easy to boot. Should go down really well with the kids!
Local style pasta made easy.
Serves 2 - 3 people
Use whatever pasta you like: macaroni, fussili, farfalle etc.
1 cup pasta, cooked according to packet instructions
100g beef, thinly sliced
1 onion, sliced
2 - 3 cloves garlic, crushed
1 cili padi, crushed
5 Tbsp soy sauce
1/2 cup chicken stock
Pepper to taste
Oil for frying
1. On high heat, fry the beef strips until slightly crisped at the edges. Add the onions, chilli and garlic. Fry for another 5 minutes.
2. Lower the heat and put the soy sauce and chicken stock in. Cook until most of the liquid has evaporated.
3. Add the pasta and stir fry for 10 minutes. Season to taste.
