Who doesn’t love fresh squid cooked in a thick, spicy and savoury sauce? Good to eat with hot rice or Nasi Lemak!
4 medium sized squid (cleaned and gutted)
6 tbsp. chilli paste
4 cloves garlic
1 tbsp. tamarind juice
1 medium red onion (Sliced)
5 tbsp. cooking oil
½ tsp. salt
Sugar to taste
1. Blend together the chilli paste, shallots and garlic into a smooth paste.
2. Sauté the paste in hot oil until the paste shrinks and the oil splits.
3. Cut the squid into rings or bite sized strips, add it into the pan with the sliced yellow onions and tamarind juice. Combine well.
4. Season with salt and sugar to taste. You may add a bit of water if the sauce becomes too dry.
