In a rather guy dominated arena of food trucks, a few plucky ladies are making the curbside landscape really exciting. Meet Iqa who drives, cooks and runs a truck that serves out a pretty mean fried kuey teow
Fried kuey teow from a truck!

Generous portions and comes to you hot!
It's right in the Masjd Jamek area so you have to battle traffic and parking to get there on weekdays
Ever love a food so much you go all out and run a food truck based on it? Well a certain Ms. Iqa took this exact route and set up - get this - a char kuey teow truck! She parks right in the middle of busy KL and those wonderful aromas coming from her truck ensure a bunch of hungry KLites are always lining up for a taste.
Fresh CKT from a truck!
Cafe On The Go was set up by Iqa about a year ago. Iqa loves char kuey teow so much she wanted to share it with the masses. After working on a recipe for a few months, she managed to get her secret spice paste spot on. Her truck is unique in that it's the only one (that we know of) in KL that does char kuey teow, complete with a roaring fire to make sure all portions come out with a touch of 'wok hei'. "We've definitely had some fiery encounters on the truck," laughed Iqa. "One time it got so hot the lights burst!"
Iqa in action
She does her char kuey teow in two different versions to appease both camps of the char kuey teow enthusiast. You know what we're talking about - the 'wet' lovers and the 'dry' fanatics. Whichever one you order, you're in for a treat because Cafe On The Go is wonderfully generous.
We totally dig her kuey teow basah
Seriously - the portions are huge for not much outlay. Both versions are loaded with meaty, juicy cockles and a couple of giant shell-on tiger prawns that maintain their sweetness. This is important because the kuey teows are fully flavoured: spicy, rich and bursting with savouriness. Taugeh and chives add a welcome fresh foil to that flavour assault too. The flat rice noodles are not mushy and nicely cooked.
If the kuey teows aren't enough, here's one more reason to like Cafe On The Go: a portion of their sales go to feeding the homeless in KL as Iqa is an avid believer of helping out those in need and helping out anyone in general. "This isn't just a business for me. It's investment for my soul too," said Iqa. In fact, she gives free meals to people with disabilities (as long as they present their OKU card!).
Cooking and doing her bit for the community
Cafe On The Go is parked at Lebuh Ampang, just at the corner of HSBC Tower (and directly opposite Mat Rock Ayam Goreng Kunyit - they're friends) on weekdays. They also participate in events. Make sure to try the kuey teow. You'll leave with happy tummies and know that you've helped out the needy as well.
