It is hard to find a decent fish and chips place, that is until I came across Cor Blimey in Subang SS15. The batter is light and crunchy, and the fish is fresh. Could this be the fish and chips joint that we have been waiting for?

We all have that one friend who opts for fish and chips at a western joint, but is always disappointed by a poor rendition. As a guy who always has a recommendation to fit each of my friends’ food preferences, I always fail to find a decent fish and chips place. It’s one of those things that seemed so simple yet hard to perfect. Then I came across Cor Blimey.
Located in the busy and packed neighborhood of SS15 Subang, it is easy to miss this place out. A friend recommended me this place. The ambiance is relaxed with a bit of British memorabilia around the shop. I can’t help feeling chilled here.
They have a no frills menu. You can select what type of fish you want either Dory, Snapper, Butterfish, Atlantic Cod or the catch of the day (the day I went there it was Haddock). Then you can select your batter either plain, lemon & herb, onion & garlic, coconut curry, or chilli lemon, and one side either minted mushy peas, chunky coleslaw, or baked beans.
My Atlantic Cod came on a bed of chips, and the minted mushy peas are nestled in a small side plate. The mushy peas still has a bit of texture to it and the mint is a nice touch to the neutral tasting peas. Enough of peas, lets move on to the main star of the show which is the fish and chips. The batter is crunchy and thin while the fish is nice and flaky, signs of a good, fresh fish. Even with flavoured batter, the taste is mellow, just enough to compliment the fish.
The sharing platter is well, for you to share! It comes with Dory Fish Fillets (which you can upgrade your fish for a price), fish cakes, Tiger Prawns Scampi, Calamari Rings, Chunky Chips, Garlic Butter Rice, Tartar Sauce, Minted Mushy Peas, and Chunky Coleslaw. Their light airy batter transcends to their other seafood such as their Calamari Rings, it is such a pleasure to bite into the light and crisp batter.
There are also other things on the menu like sausage and mash and pies. If you are feeling particularly indulgent you can order up a fried mars bars to end your meal on a sinful note.
Overall I am very pleased with my visit here, Cor Blimey is on the top of my Fish and Chips list. The fish is great and the batter is sublime. Parking is a nightmare but hey, it all worth it in the end.
