In Taman Tun there's a cheery Italian restaurant tucked away on the 1st floor of a bunch of shoplots. Run by a brother and sister, they serve up an Italian menu that's tasty and consistent. Since they opened about 2 years ago, they have many regulars and now is a much-loved neighbourhood eatery. But that's not all, they are now venturing into jarred sauces and ready-made meals so you too can make a quick Italian meal at home.

The restaurant itself is pretty chilled with modest décor, nothing too over the top. The menu features favourites such as the spaghetti, pizza and also some notable items such as the Gnocchi. To start with, we recommend Spaghetti Marinara and Gnocchi with Beef.


The Spaghetti Marinara comes with huge Prawns, NZ Mussels, squid and crab meat. All of this is mixed lovingly with the house tomato sauce. The sauce is nice and thick (we have on good authority that sauces here are cooked long and slow and uses Italian tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil and Himalayan salt. This sauce coats the pasta very well so every bite of the al-dente pasta is a treat. The seafood is fresh as well, prawns are firm and sweet while the mussels are not chewy. A good dish!


The Gnocchi with Beef comes with arugula Leaves, fresh mozzarella and black olives. Gnocchi is a small dumpling that is made from potatoes. It loos deceptively simple but takes skill to get right (you want them a little fluffy, pillowy with a nice chew). They get is pretty good here, this particular dish is a balance of textures, a little chew from the gnocchi with a crunch from the arugula. The salty and sour black olives is also a nice touch in the dish. The winner here is the mozzarella cheese, fresh with a bouncy texture.


Livello Uno also has amazing starters. Check out the Naked Clams which are venus clams sautéed in garlic, chilli, chopped parsley and extra virgin olive oil. We also love the simple anchovy toast, salty and savoury, it's a good appetite whetter while waiting for your mains.

Chef Marshad has travelled around the world cooking for various restaurants, until his feet brought him back to home soil. With his years of experience and Italian heritage, he decided to open his own business with his sister Mutiara. Every once in a while he will whip up special dishes such as a Coconut Tiramisu and most recently Chocolate Truffles with a drop of lemon gel.
