Nasi Lemak has survive throughout the years as Malaysia's no.1 breakfast. So it's no wonder that many try to find some uniqueness when serving it up. Here at Appu Curry House, instead of coming up with a different interpretation like nasi lemak appam or nasi lemak ice cream, they decided to bring fortune into their nasi lemak. Like the famous fortune cookies, nasi lemak here have little 'notes' placed inside with cheeky Indian phrasing and they call it Nasib Lemak. Genius!

The Nasib Lemak is wrapped in banana leaf and then wrapped in a brown paper with a logo of Appu Curry house stamped on the side. The banana leaf heightens the aroma of the nasi lemak even further, and the nasi lemak itself is warm and packed snugly in the packet. On top of each packet is a little 'fortune note' bundled in together.

They have two types of nasi lemak, a standard nasi lemak with sambal ikan bilis and a nasi lemak with sambal sotong. I am happy to note that the standard nasi lemak is fragrant and mildly rich in coconut milk. The sambal ikan bilis is briny and spicy mixing well with the crumbly nasi lemak. The quirky notes they add in the nasi lemak makes you smile in the early morning. Somehow, I find myself eating ate another pack of nasi lemak just to read what else is in store for me.

Appu Curry House starts their breakfast from 7am till 11.45am and lunch starts at 11.30am till 4pm. They serve good banana leaf rice for lunch as well. If you come in a group of 4 you can try their prosperity set for RM88 which comes with Appu's Signature Fierce Like Wife Fish Head Curry, 4 banana leaf rice, fried bitter gourd, large mutton, large chicken, free flow rassam and 4 drinks.
