Restoran Puteri

by Arslan Z. on Mon, February 11, 2019

When asked why Pn Rubiah Suparman decided to name the restaurant Puteri, is because it's "sedap di dengar dan senang nak ingat" it also describes the food here. Simple, good and memorable.

What started out as a hobby, now has become one of TTDI neighbourhood’s institution. Pn. Rubiah first open her doors to customer more than 35 years ago. Cooking up her family's specials such as Laksa Johor, Lontong, Soto and other famous Malay Breakfast.

One of best dishes here is the famed Laksa Johor. The recipe was passed down from Pn. Rubiah's mother-in-law and damn the kuah is phenomenal! She only uses simple ingredients like ikan kembong, asam keping and the norm you can get at your pasar, but every flavour in this kuah is front and centre. The aroma and taste from the thick gravy comes from the combination of local spices, tanginess of the asam keping, mixed with the freshness of the fish… memang a delight, all in one bite.

Another one of my fav here is the Soto Ayam. Made with spices flown in from Johor every week, which Pn. Rubiah insist on, as it heightens the flavours of the broth. Paired with soft Nasi Impit, a chunky potato Begedel, strips of chicken meat and simple condiments to complete this hearty Soto.

Pn. Rubiah also makes a heck of a Lontong. The fresh santan gives just the right amount of lemak when it’s cooked with special spices and crunchy greens to form a light yet full of body kuah. The flavours combined are just wonderful, and she adds an extra kick of flavour with her Spicy Sambal. Baru ada kick, definitely wajib try when you're here.
