Unlimited Lunch @ Gobo Upstairs, Traders Hotel
If you need a good place to bring your clients for a business lunch, or if you’re just feeling in the mood for a posh lunch with a great view of KL, Gobo Upstairs at Trader’s Hotel is the new place to be.
Introducing their exciting new lunch concept “Unlimited Lunch”, it brings all the benefits of a buffet without the fuss of having to queue for food, jostle with the person next to you and make do with pre-cooked (often lukewarm) dishes.
Instead, using the concept of a dim sum lunch but applying it to semi-fine dining cuisine, Gobo Upstairs serves a 3-course menu with various starters, mains and desserts to choose from, right at your table. And the best thing is, you can sample all of it and have as much as you want.
On this lovely Thursday afternoon, my fellow foodsters’ and I are feasting on a delicious array of starters, whole scallops pan seared with orange reduction, creamy deep-fried mushroom risotto balls, crispy vegetable puffs, Caesar’s salad with roasted chicken, and a divine pumpkin and smoked salmon soup, which is making me swoon with pleasure.
Now back to the food. I really should have said “No” to another helping of scallops, but who could resist? Once you tire of starters, just inform the friendly restaurant staff that you are ready for your main course, and dirty plates and bowls are quickly cleared to make way for more epicurean delights.
On the Mains menu today are tender cuts of grilled black angus beef sirloin, flavourful grilled baby chicken with chimicuri rub, delectable asparagus risotto with parmigiano, and a simple baked sea bass, tender and succulent. I thought that was the last of it, but I was pleasantly proved wrong, as this daily lunch set also contains a mystery dish which changes everyday, and today it is Linguini in mushroom cream sauce. The verdict? Pretty darn awesome!
Once we were sated with the mains, we decided to go back for a few more of those yummy starters. This is the best bit about the Unlimited lunch; you can go back and forth between your 3-courses as much as you want, whenever you want. Now where are those scallops again?
I know I’ve been going on and on about the scallops, but please leave some room for dessert. Worth a serious mention : the silly-grin-inducing Chocolate Sacher Fudge Cake.
For RM50++ you get unlimited soft drinks with your meal, and for RM60++ you get it with a glass of wine. Either way, I am betting my last scallop that you’re going to need a strong cup of coffee to make yourself functional enough to heave your full stomach off the table, pay the bill and get back to the office.
